The war in Pundani is over, and Light has become, at long, long last, victorious over Dark. The continent may never recover from having lost two or every three beings living in it, but at least it will have the opportunity to try.

This victory comes at a cost, though, and a significant one at that. Many warriors died the name of protecting the Light, and their bodies and stories are to be shown and celebrated at this year's Grand Galloping Gala. Not least among them will be the memorial of Celestia, Sun Princess of Equestria and Gaia, who died in the final moments of the fight.

Equestrian Legends is shutting down. Please read more about this decision here.

Equestrian Legends Redux is a reboot of a popular MLPFIM roleplaying forum. We offer an extremely detailed sandbox world, a low minimum wordcount of 100, and a rapidly moving, far reaching plot. While you are just as welcome to play slice of life threads here, and they are encouraged between plot events, please know that Redux is very story driven, and considerably darker than the show.

Weather: Warm and sunny, but with a peculiar sort of silence to the air
Date: September Tenth, 5150
Current Events: The Grand Galloping Gala
Description: This biannual event was always intended to be one of celebration and delight, even if politics and stodginess did often get in the way. But this year, there is no doubt that the very nature of the Gala has been irrevocably altered. Begun by Princess Celestia after her Sister's banishment, now the Gala is being continued by Princess Luna after Celestia's death.

It was a gorgeous sunrise, the hues of the sun casting the landscape into a surreal form and colors. and in it was a shadow mass. A solid shadow really, that was the best it could be described as. Its edges and form were hard to see. But as it devoured its kill, it was clear that it existed. And was there. It cared not for the beauty of the world. It had seen all too much of it. All it cared about was its stomach and hunger.

Wander looked toward the poster clenched in his claws, then at the shadow before him. There was no mistaking it, this was the monster he'd been sent out to kill. It certainly seemed formidable, but he had little doubt that he could best the beast. By the looks of it, the thing was an agent of darkness the creature would be better off without anyway.

"Fear, fallen beast. Death is upon you. He said approaching it head on and drawing his blade. He'd finish this, and collect his bits. Couldn't be simpler.

The creature's tail unfolds from it's body, the faint gleam of it's multitude of warped grostesque spikes that ran along it could be seen within the foggy shadow mass that was Jasmine. Then he long and spiked tail attempted to skewer Wander. No pomp and circumstance, just tail slapped to death. That was how it worked for most bounty hunters.

Wander slipped beneath the spiked tail rather gracefully and ran toward the creature. I't was odd for a beast not to at least give a roar or something of the sort. Still this was a creature like any other, and he didn't wish to bother himself with all of its oddities at the moment. He attempted to make a slash to it legs and disable it. Finishing things from there would be relatively easy.

"Sorry, not quite enough Beast." he said seriously. This thing had reached the end of its days.

The dragon's soulless eyes looked upon the pony that was poking at it with a sharp stick. If it knew of jokes and laughter, it would be laughing right now. Death by acupuncture. Funny. But it didn't know what a joke was. Laughter was just another noise that creatures made. And one that they never made in her presence. So she doubly did not know what a joke or laughter was.

As for why she didn't roar- it was too much trouble to roar. It was prey, not a serious threat. The dragon spat some spider webs at him to deal with him.

Wander was shaken. How could his blade have had no effect? he knew the creature was powerful, and had expected it to be resistant, but to have no effect at all? That was staggering! His bewilderment was a moment too long, as a web collided with is blade and went skittering away. Now he was worried. He sent out a blinding light and dashed toward his weapon, hoping he could retrieve it before he ended up eaten by this beast.

Well it did have an effect. It just didn't have much of an effect compared to the massiveness that she was. It was a small compared to her. And even while she didn't have any scales to shield herself there, it was still pretty small. Jasmine attempted to smash Wander under her massive paw.

Wander attempted to dodge the beast's claw and get to his blade. It was faster the he'd anticipated however and it slashed his shoulders. He resisted the urge to shout out in pain as he fell over, feeling dread wash over himself as he turned to face the beast. This couldn't be it, he couldn't die here, he couldn't.

"Aww is sunshine having a little trouble without yours truly? Scrambling in the dirt, frightened like a child. How utterly noble of you!" he heard in his mind. He ignored it however, only doing his best to back away from the ferocious beast.

The shadow monster tried to gouge its claws through the kirin's ribcage, going in for the kill.

Wander felt everything seem to slow as his death bore down of him. The ended was before him, and he didn't know what he could do. That was it...he'd never see his homeland again, never find his redemption, never even take another breath. The darkness seemed to be taking over his vision, and it felt as if he were falling. Falling into unconsciousness.

"Sorry, ****wad, but we're not going to die here just cuz you went in over your head." Wander said raising his claw and attempting to stop the creatures attack with his magic. It was a being of shadow, he could sense it. Well now he could at least. And if it were shadow, he knew he could control it.

The creature was halted by the magic, and infuriated by it. Snacks weren't supposed to be able to do this! Normally they couldn't. But Jasmine herself was a shadow, and his cutiemark was in shadow magic. So… There was a whole deal thing with that. Jasmine wanted to devour the thing.

Wander let out a manic cackle, slipping beneath the creature and releasing it. Trying to hold it in place would be stupid, he'd burn out far to quickly. Not to mention it'd be BORING. No, he'd use as little magic as he could. Move her strikes just enough to keep her at bay. More exciting, more economic, MORE FUN!

"My my, Kitty is oh so angry. We were not the easy prey you expected, Hmm? Don't worry, you surprised Sparkle too.Idiot always thinks he can go it alone, always striking out out what his half mind can't comprehend! But we comprehend you Kitty. Yes we do. You're like us, we can tell. Your a shadow ii ore ways than one. But what of, we wonder?"
He said, sticking to avoiding an y attacks she sent his way and keeping an eye out for those webs.

Why wasn't it being able to kill him? It was tiny prey, it should not be this strong. Jasmine then proceeded to just all out rampage, doing whatever it felt was needing in order to squash the nibble sized snack.

Wander kept his dodging up. Seems as if the creature was getting vicious. All the better, it made thing more entertaining. Still it was best to end this one way or another. magical burnout was a pain to deal with, and he didn't want to end up killing her. He stood on his hind legs and threw a few punches at the creature.

"Angry, Kitty? My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable! C'mon we will wipe the floor with you, fisticuffs!" He threw a wild haymaker an reached out with his magic to toss the beast back. That oughta surprise it at least.

Jasmine fell back, eyes wide in surprise at having been caught by such a creature. Really? Wow. This was… Weird. Jasmine took a few steps back, then turned around and grabbed her kill, making a break for it. Jasmine wasn't a brave creature. If she had enough mind to even be considered as smart as a dog she could be considered a bully, devouring the weak and running from the strong. She'd scarcely met someone as strong as her though. Which was why she was running.

Wander decided to let her run. His magic can't last forever, and he was already injured. Not to mention that that he had no idea when the shiny stick in the mud would be able to resume control, and seeing as his other side wasn't able to tap into the shadows, it wasn't worth chancing.

"Run little kitty, but this is not the end. as long are there are shadows, we shall yet meet again." He said using the darkness to stitch up his wound. It'd make for a decent patch till he made it back to a town. It was a pity they wouldn't be getting any bounty, though. He could really go for having a bit more spending money.

He didn't like this.

Coalhound had broken camp in the dawn when he'd caught a whiff of something... unusual on the wind. Shoving over the charcoal of his campfire and packing his few belongings, he pressed himself low against the ground when he noticed a cloaked figure moving in the distance. He stayed that way for a long while until the stranger disappeared from view. Just as he was about to move, though, the cloaked figure appeared again, now moving slightly differently as if he'd gotten cut up somewhere. Stilling himself, Coalhound propped his pack in front of him, drawing his sandy-colored spyglass out of its compartment to observe the figure.

Coalhound instinctively took two deep sniffs of the air. He was wounded, of that he had no doubt. The way he moved in Coal's eyepiece only made this fact ever clearer. Bloodied or not, though, a sense of danger accompanied the figure's steps. That sword hanging by his side could likely attest to that.

Coalhound wondered if he should sneak away if at all possible, but he felt transfixed in his curiosity. Just then, the stranger seemed to suddenly look up, pinning Coal's eye through the spyglass lens with an icy gaze and sending a chill down the diamond dog hunter's spine. Coal reached for his crossbow, thankful he'd already nocked a bolt into the top rack.

He'd stay still, for now. If the stranger showed any hostile intent, he'd either slowly crawl away, or--if his opponent made the first attack--open fire to distract him then run like the wind.

How did the cloaked stranger notice him, when he'd been keeping himself angled away from the rising sun, so nothing would glint off of his spyglass lens?

((OOC: Sorry if I'm butting into anything.))
