The war in Pundani is over, and Light has become, at long, long last, victorious over Dark. The continent may never recover from having lost two or every three beings living in it, but at least it will have the opportunity to try.

This victory comes at a cost, though, and a significant one at that. Many warriors died the name of protecting the Light, and their bodies and stories are to be shown and celebrated at this year's Grand Galloping Gala. Not least among them will be the memorial of Celestia, Sun Princess of Equestria and Gaia, who died in the final moments of the fight.

Equestrian Legends is shutting down. Please read more about this decision here.

Equestrian Legends Redux is a reboot of a popular MLPFIM roleplaying forum. We offer an extremely detailed sandbox world, a low minimum wordcount of 100, and a rapidly moving, far reaching plot. While you are just as welcome to play slice of life threads here, and they are encouraged between plot events, please know that Redux is very story driven, and considerably darker than the show.

Weather: Warm and sunny, but with a peculiar sort of silence to the air
Date: September Tenth, 5150
Current Events: The Grand Galloping Gala
Description: This biannual event was always intended to be one of celebration and delight, even if politics and stodginess did often get in the way. But this year, there is no doubt that the very nature of the Gala has been irrevocably altered. Begun by Princess Celestia after her Sister's banishment, now the Gala is being continued by Princess Luna after Celestia's death.

"Third Casino on the list, the venerable Ceaser's Palace." A burly pegasus in silver police armor said as he rolled up the scroll he'd been reading from.

A considerably smaller unicorn in the same armor nodded her head, "Thanks Butch," she knew he was following protocol and so pointing out the obvious was practically mandatory. The green mare with a blue and dark blue mane took point ahead of the stark white and blond pegasus backing her up. They were part of the patrol team for the local constabulary. Which in spite of Los Pegasus's reputation as den of sin and vice, was all the city really needed to keep law enforced. Aside from them were only a dozen others, who were all hitting the other major Casinos at the same time.

The great light bulb had not yet been clicked on, so it was a sort of minor raid in the pre-dawn hours. They couldn't be sure if the target was still in the city, but word from Canterlot had filtered down to be on the look out for dragons inside the city. A few ponies had come to them speaking of one and its apparent thrall, a Crystal Pony. It was their task, no, their duty to rescue the citizen from his obvious eventual fate as a snack for the monster that now held him captive.

At this point in her inner monologue the Sheriff was standing in the lobby approaching the front desk. By luck, fate or misfortune Posey was nearing the end of her shift, an all night one she had to take to make up for bailing early the night before. "Hello, how can I help you this morning Sheriff Silver Star?"

"You can tell me if you've seen this dragon." She timed the statement to coincide with placing a wanted poster with Hoplite's visage in profile, 'WANTED: Alive 5000 Bit reward, for Ponycide. Considered armed and extremely dangerous.' Silver Star watched the mare across the counter as she looked at the sketch and flinched involuntarily.

"No, I'm afraid I haven't seen her." She smiled, putting on a most excellent poker face. A poker face that wasn't quite up to snuff against the investigative glare of Silver Star. The Sheriff almost didn't need to see the tick, or know the way Posey's ear flicked when she was nervous, to know she was lying out of her plot.

"Alright, well, there've been sightings of it, so I'm gonna put these posters up, if you or anypony else sees it, come see me or any of the deputies around town. Remember it's dangerous, so if you see it, don't try to apprehend it, bring its location to our attention and we'll make the take down ourselves. Safer that way. Thanks for your time." She tipped her hat and directed Butch to place a few copies of the Poster up on one side of the entry lobby while she dealt with the other.

Once done the pair made their way out the front door, "Sheriff, she knew something, didn't you," he didn't get to finish, Silver star interuppted him with a glare.

"Yeah I know it's in there, but you heard what it did to those earth ponies in Canterlot, we're gonna need the entire team to take this drake down." She looked up at the towering structure, "You keep watch, if Posey makes a break for anywhere, detain her."

Butch nodded and trotted off to one side of the bank of doors, a place where he could almost discreetly watch Posey as she continued to work, a slightly stressed look growing on the little black unicorn's face.

Inside Ceaser's Palace Posey had another hour of work left to do and a nice buck buddy to warn about the coming raid, she'd played enough poker living in Los Pegasus to know when she was being played. The Sheriff knew she knew the dragon's whereabouts, she'd let slip she knew it was a she when there was no indication, of course she could say it was bias, but that'd only get her so far. The clock visible under the counter clicked over to 6 AM, twenty minutes until she could foist the rest of her day onto somepony else, or feign needing to visit the little filly's room or something to get away and warn Thole.

Ten minutes.

Five. She glanced around after dealing with an early riser who wanted to check out and noticed to her complete horror that Butch hadn't left and was watching her. No, that was the last thing she needed to happen, was for Butch to be there, watching her. "Morning White on Black, how was the overnight?"

"Good enough kinda slow, but good." Posey lied to her coworker, "Her, could you hold the fort I've really gotta powder my nose."

"Your nose if fine, it's the right color." A Zebra Striped earth pony stallion, gave Posey's nose a look over, "Yeah not a smudge there.

"Ugh no, I need to powder my nose," she said with extra emphasis.

Her coworker stared blankly then went wide eyed as he figured it out, "OH! Oh, yeah go on I got the desk no prob!" He grinned and positioned himself behind the counter as Posey began a careful calm stride toward the restrooms.

Her horn lit briefly as she depressed the button for the elevator and was rewarded with an immediate and happy Ding! as a door opened up. Another door opened then as well as Butch burst in flying. Posey broke into a gallop as she found and pressed the close door button with her magic. She slipped through the doors a moment before they closed leaving Butch to smash face first into the door. She pressed the floor button and hoped that Butch would wait at the bottom until the elevator stopped moving. She then ensured that it made it to the right floor which was a few down from the first it stopped at. Her luck held out a bit as when she got off the elevator Butch wasn't waiting for her. She was off galloping arrived at the door to Thole's suite and fumbling with the lock just long enough to hear wings in the halls. The door swung open and closed with a bang.

Hoplite at this point snapped awake, she'd been having a remarkably pleasant dream where the ponies were only going to put her in the dungeon for a year and she got to keep thole for the duration. It was rather nice for a Punishment Dream. "Huh?"

Thole's eyes opened and he stared uncomprehendingly at the soft azure membrane covering him for a moment, his still-mostly-unconscious mind unable to process anything more than blue, soft, warm. No wait, there had been a noise. A bang? And somepony was panting. What was all the ruckus for? Poking his head out of his warm nest blearily, Thole looked around and saw Poesy locking the door with a frantic look on her face.

That's not normal. Mares have been known to wander into my room for no other reason than to see my face, but they never scramble in desperately and then lock the door.

Blinking owlishly and rubbing one of his eyes, the crystal pony let out a rather wide yawn which he squelched as quickly as he could.

"What's up, Pose? What's the rush? You look like somepony's trying to set your tail on fire." he said, laying his chin on Hoplite's tail and waiting for a response. It was nice and warm, having a dragon curled around you; it wasn't worth getting up for anything less than sex or an emergency.

"The const," Gasp, "The cons," Gasp! "The," pant, wheeze. She stopped trying to talk, taking in instead a deep breath as she rushed closer to the bed, "The Sheriff is looking for her!" She said pointing her hoof at Hoplite.

"Huh?" Hoplite didn't quite process that, "Sheriff, what sheriff?"

"The one that's in charge of Los Pegasus! She was here about twenty minutes ago!" She clapped her hooves over her mouth, quieting herself down, "Gotta be quiet, Butch Casidy is following me and I think Silver Star is gathering the rest of her Deputies to catch her." She reached out to Thole, she could only save him, the Dragon was toast as far as Posey was concerned.

Hoplite was a bit stunned, how did they know she was... Posey. Traitorous little pony, she was going to sell her out to take Thole away!

Thole took Poesy's outstretched hoof and hauled himself out of the bed with her help, hustling quickly to the door and snatching up a chair along the way. This was bad, this was very, very bad. How could this trouble follow them this far, this easily? So Hoppy had killed two scumbags, big deal, they had nearly killed him and would have done so successfully if not for her! The chair was jammed under the door, which opened into the room like any good hotel door, and given a firm buck, jamming it tightly into place. Nothing less than an axe would be opening that door any time soon; between the time required to find the right room and the time needed to break down the heavily jammed door, they had maybe three minutes before the shit fully hit every fan.

"Okay, Pose, here's the deal. Hoppy, get your armor-plated ass up, we're leaving in forty five seconds! Hoplite and I ran into some trouble in Canterlot. I got jumped by two guys while we were shopping in the city, they bushwhacked me in an alley with a cosh. Nearly killed me. Hoppy killed them for it. The guards being what they are, they decided to arrest first and ask questions later, and neither of us wants to spend decades in jail for murder. You've got two options at this point; you can either rat us out and save your hide, which I wouldn't blame you for at all, or you can let them label you as an accomplice and put you away from obstruction because you warned us." Thole said quickly, grabbing onto Hoplite's spines and hauling her big ass out of the bed with a strength bordering on unnatural. He slapped the saddle on her back and started doing up buckles and straps as he spoke, fastening and tying and securing as many things as quickly as equinely possible. They didn't have much time.

"So the choice is, stay here and tell them what you know about us, which isn't much...or, come fly with me."

They had more time than Thole estimated, the posse was assembled, but they were assembled outside waiting for the big dumb escape attempt. This wasn't Silver Star's first rodeo, with fliers or not. She chewed her lip a bit as Butch came back out, "Well?"

"She's a sneaky one, got to an elevator before I could get to her. Even sent it to the wrong floor first to throw me off. Found her though, she and I assume the hostage and the dragon."

"You assume, Butch?"

"Well i heard talking and some activity. If it wasn't them then I don't know who she was running from me to get to."

"Point made, what floor were they on?"

"Thirty second. Facing this strip."

"Good job, Butch." She turned about to the assembled deputies, mostly bucks and stallions, big, strong and dumb that's why Silver Star was in charge. "Butch show them where!" Fully half the assembled fourteen ponies were pegasi and all took flight, Butch among them.

~~~
Hoplite initially started growling as Thole took the mare's hand, but he was too quick for the still waking doe to recapture, that and he was starting to make sense. They were in some kind of significant trouble now, sherriffs and what the hell? Hoplite felt herself get pulled rather roughly around and not in a way that felt like Unicorn magic, "Thole! Gentle, those spines aren't unbreakable you know." She explaimed at the rough treatment.
"Bags first then saddle!" She demanded as he tried to put the saddle on before the blanket and the bags made it into place. It was wierd getting 'dressed' by somepony else, nice, but strange.
Posey stood back watching wide eyed, this wasn't what she meant at all, she wanted him to abandon the beast and stay with her!
Then came the offer, "Thole. I hate to break it to you, but I can't carry you both, it's hard enough carrying you and the things. Both you and her would crash us all." She didn't mention that she'd already calculated the needed air speed that she'd need to stay airborne with the unicorn on board, it was possible to maintain, but not for long jaunts. They'd be walking most of the time if she was forced to carry them both.
"I won't tell them anything, I mean it's like you said I don't really know anything about you." She sighed, giving Thole a longing look that ended when her eyes caught something in the window.
"I'm sorry about this, getting to know you a little better might have been fun. Next time we're in town I'll definitely drop by, okay? What are you looking at?" Thole said with a wryly as he made the changes Hoplite had dictated, before glancing over his shoulder at whatever it was that Poesy had stopped to stare at. A frustrated scoff escaped the crystal pony's lips as he saw a decent number of uniformed pegasi hovering outside of the building, staring into the windows at them with grim expressions.
"Oh. Great. Hoppy, there's about ten of them hovering outside, staring at us. I'm pretty sure you could bull through them if you charged up a lot and then just flew right by, but I think that might kill a couple of them. On the other hoof, they want to take us to prison. I don't think I'd do to well in a concrete box, plus I don't think they'd let us stay in the same cell, so I don't really want to surrender, but... it's up to you. Are we going to fly for it and let them fry themselves trying to wrestle you out of the air or just sit quietly so that everypony stays safe?" he said, finishing up Hoplite's gear and strapping his own pack on rather quickly. The dragoness needed to make a judgement call pretty fast, it didn't look like those pegasi intended to just wait around forever.
"Uhmm. I wouldn't try the window anyway." Posey said, raising her hoof into the air trying to call attention to herself. "Management put in new Magicly reenforced glass a few years back after a few ponies decided to erm... Swan dive through them." She laughed nervously, "But we're pretty close to the roof, you might have better luck up there."
Hoplite stared blindly at the window, she couldn't see any of the ponies flying just outside it, even if they were within her normal range the windows conducted her squeaks and clicks too poorly to get even an unclear picture of what was going on outside. It was still dark though, she could tell by the light that made it through her ruined lenses. "The roof sounds good. Another dive off a large thing, get up some speed and out fly them. Hopefully. I'd rather not kill anymore ponies, that would only make matters worse."
Hoplite adjusted the fit of the saddle a bit, getting it to sit right on her back as Posey continued her side of the conversation, "There's a key for roof access," This drew a glance from Hoplite, "I have one of the keys to it, it's a nice place to like, hang out and stuff." Her magic held up the key, "You should close the blinds, so they don't see you leave the room." Honestly she didn't know why they were open, most ponies even with the view kept them closed, probably to prevent a passing pegasus from getting a free 'show'.
"Right. Okay, that sounds like a plan." said Thole, shutting the blinds and then taking Poesy's key with a grateful smile. "I owe you one, Pose. If we get out of here without getting locked up, I promise that the next time I'm in town I'll be sure to show you a good time. Just the two of us, okay?" He gave the ditzy-yet-cute unicorn a kiss as a reward for all of her help, before trotting over to the door and jerking the chair loose.
"Okay, Hoppy. If we're going to stand a chance of getting out we're going to want to do it before they get set up enough to bust in here. You ready to go?"
Posey blushed a bit though her fur tone hid the color. That was more like it. She got out of the way and waited for the inevitable thundering off.
"Looks like I'll be ditching on another tab." Hoplite said with a bemused smile. She widened her stance and began focusing her breath weapon outward, causing sparks to start emerging from her hide in some places. "Show me the way." She pulled her head in preparing herself to be a battering ram. It wasn't her best role, but she could manage it if she needed to.
~~~

"Celestia curse this, what's taking so long?! They should have busted through the windows to try and escape or something by now!" Silver Star stared up impatiently. It shouldn't have taken this long for everything to get started, this was starting to look like a stand off. As she stared she realized something, "Horseapples! The windows were replaced after those suicides three years ago! They can't get through them!" That meant they would have to take another route. From inside the building. "Quick! After me!" She charged for the door. This could get ugly fast.

Thole cantered out into the hallway and headed to the stairwell at a fair turn of speed, checking behind him every five or so seconds to make sure Hoplite was keeping up well and not losing track of him. Once he got to the big steel doors, he opened them wide and ushered the dragon inside.

"We'll take the stairs up, I don't think anypony will be waiting there. They'll probably be expecting us to use that fancy elevator. Come on, sparky, we're almost gone." he said quickly before turning to flee up the concrete risers, taking each flight in just a few seconds. It would be less than half a minute before he reached the roof access door, likely a few seconds ahead of Hoplite.

Hop followed up, though at a more stately pace, the concrete reflected her sounds better, but it was still rather a slower than full gallop affair. She reached the top about thirty seconds behind Thole, unfazed by the climb. "Alright get the door open then get on." She smirked, "I hope this doesn't become too much of a habit for us. Having to leave suddenly and urgently."

She waited for Thole's weight to be added to her back and for him to get buckled in before priming herself for the run off the roof. "Give me updates as fast as you can. I'll try to gain as much speed as I can, but that might not be enough, if they get close yell out their position, High is above our plane of motion, low is below our plane.With some luck I'll be the strongest flier in the sky today and we'll out fly them." She dug her claws in and bent down in a primed running stance, "Give me the signal."

Outside there was a ding as the Elevator arrived at the top of the shaft with its load of ponies, Sheriff Silver Star among them. "Lock the roof down, get ready for anything!"

Thole unlocked the roof door and tucked the key away into his bag before hopping onto Hoplite's back and strapping himself in as quickly as he could.

"Yep, they're waiting out there. Okay, Hoppy, the door's unlocked at the latch mechanism is a push bar about half way up. It goes all the way across the board too so don't worry too much about getting out; just kick it open and run. They'll probably be everywhere so try to get up as fast as you can, that way we'll only have to deal with pegasi." he said, cocking an ear at the muffled shouts from outside. This would either be incredibly interesting or disastrous.

Neither would be particularly good for them. Interesting could be just as disasterous as straight out disasterous. Hoplite nodded at the instruction and waited a moment longer for Thole to brace himself in the saddle. She imagined in that time that this would probably looked awfully silly in general, a pony diring a dragon by being strapped down, if only they knew who made the saddle adn the original intent of the design it was based off of.

That thought over she charged at the door, shouldering it open and sending it almost off its reenforced hinges in the process.

The ponies on the roof didn't scatter, but they were not yet prepared for the sudden apperance from their quarry and were a bit startled by the rather over the top entry.

Hoplite got up to a gallop and took flight, with luck Thole would notice the low fence and pulle back on the saddle in time for her to react, otherwise things would be entering the Disasterous collum of the options for the day's outcomes.

"Stop it!" Silver Star yelled as she slung some very silver magic at the pair, to no apparent avail.

"JUUUUUMP!" Thole cried as the spell flattened itself against the back of his head, sinking an unnatural chill into his spine but not accomplishing much else, at least as far as he could tell. In fact, he barely noticed the spalsh of magic, worried as he was about the concrete lip currently threatening to cut the legs out from under Hoplite as she barreled towards the edge of the rooftop. Bracing himself and hoping against hope that the dragon could hear his shout, the crystal pony metally prepared himself for another tumble into the abyss.

The call out from the Sheriff got the attention of the Pegasi at about the same time as Hoplite's safe emergence from over the concrete barrier. She had jumped when bidden to and quite high at that which allowed her to clear the barrier so ably. Her eyes were open, still seeing the murk of night when the great light bulb in the sky suddenly clicked on. A great many ponies everywhere cried out as one, "AUGHH!" Several of the pegasi who were vectoring in on Hoplite lost control and spun out having to be rescued by their compatriots who were having similar sight problems.

Silver star stood back on the roof slinging more spells at the pair, though they were all going rather wide now as she too was blinded by the sudden appearance of the 'sun'.

Hoplite wheeled a bit in the sky, unsure of her heading and soon deciding, Any direction will do! She began power flight, pushing herself rather than simply gliding and riding thermals as she might normally his close to a desert, then again the light bulb had just been turned on so the matter was moot anyway. As she felt they were outside the strip she started a slow powered dive to gain some extra speed, unable to see their pursuers, but sure that with the stark red saddle she was probably not as covert in the sky as she was used to. It would probably be better to be close to the ground for a quick landing than to fly high and hope that her natural camouflage was good enough to hide her.

Thole was too busy desperately blinking the dazzle out of his eyes to notice the one pegasus officer who failed to be dazzled by the appearance of the 'sun', having been facing away from the lightbulb when it clicked on. This pony swooped in, intent on rescuing the fleeing dragon's 'hostage' before she picked up too much speed or noticed his attack.

Suddenly, a foreleg was around Thole's waist and a short sword was slashing at his moorings as the well-meaning officer attempted to make off with the crystal pony, sure that he would be quiet and allow himself to be lifted free so that the dragon could be safely taken down. Thole, of course, had other plans.

"Hey! Let me go before you get us both killed, tinhead! Don't cut at those! Stop! Hoppy, roll! Roll!" he shouted, squirming and elbowing viciously at the pony who was pretty much out of reach behind the stallion's back, enjoying the shelter afforded to him by the saddle's safety harnesses. If Thole couldn't move to punch the guy, he couldn't be punched.

Hoplite was already processing ideas on what to do about the extra passenger when Thole started yelling. She immediately rolled and almost as fast lost sense of which direction was up. By the third twirl Hoplite's mental level was gone and she'd likely need help to pull out of the spin that was quickly becoming an out of control dive.

Thole clung desperately to the saddle as blood rushed into his head, the g-forces of Hoplite's aileron roll threatening to suck his brains out of his ears. The guard was sent pinwheeling away within the first couple of seconds, and Thole expected Hoplite to stop her diving roll after that happy event, but...she didn't. Why was she still spinning? Everything was getting dark, breathing was becoming difficult and very little blood was able to escape from the centrifugal forces of the aileron roll. Thole was passing out.

"Hoppy...stop...stop spinning..." he choked out, clinging desperately to consciousness and praying that she would just level off before he fainted dead away.

Hoplite was having a great deal of trouble. Her balance was gone, nothing left. Her sense of where the horizon was gone with it. She opened her wings and tried to stop the roll only to end up momentarily upside down before her aerodynamics shot her down like a rock. She made a half loop in the process, finding up as well, but not being able to maintain it. She was wobbling as she glided through the air the panic of her first blind flight back in full force.

"Thole! Help!" She yelled out, her head still spinning from it all. They were not far off the ground anymore and barely above the rooftops, though those were becoming more sparse. Hoplite didn't even think to throw out a screech, the flying world never had landmarks, why should she expect that she was only half a dozen meters from crashing into a rooftop.

"You got it, darlin', you got it...you're turning left a little, and we're a bit close to the ground, but you've got it...Ugh, my head..." Thole groaned up into Hoplite's ear, lying sprawled along her neck limply as his system struggled mightily to recover from the relentless pseudogravitational forces it had just endured. The fight was nearly in vain; it was touch and go whether Thole would wake back up or go ahead and pass out.

"No, don't you dare! Keep talking!" She yelled as she started working on gaining altitude. Correcting her roll was however a tad more difficult than simply going a little more right. Every time she fixed it and tried to fly straight her still overstimulated and spinning cochlea sent her left again. She was still drifting left, but ware that she was, her path became a net forward even if she kept rolling to the left at nearly every chance. She began to remain level better but without input from Thole she kept compensating and started a rightward turn.

She called up again, "Thole, you still with me? Do I need to put down and get you off?" She paused a moment then yelled, "Not in a sexual way!"

"I'd love for you to get me off, Hoppy. Right now, though, I just need a minute to recover; I know I'm not supposed to be this tired, especially five minutes after waking. We'll talk about you maybe getting me off after I've figured out whether or not I'm fainting." Thole said, patting Hoplite's shoulder and shifting his weight to the right to counteract her constant leftwards tilting. He was starting to feel better rather quickly as normal blood flow reasserted itself, but he was still a bit dizzy and limp-feeling.

Goddesses preserve. She nearly face palmed, but doing so she knew would severely mess up her trajectory and she was having enough trouble keeping from crashing. There was however a more important question than how she'd get Thole off, that of , "Where am I flying to? I know I normally have trouble figuring out where I am in relation to things, but this is particularly bad. Where are we even going?" She wasn't looking for a destination at the moment, just the direction though if Thole had a destination in mind, that was good too.

Digging woozily at the strap pouch that housed his compass, Thole pulled the little instrument out and flipped it open. South out of Los Pegasus; they were heading into the desert. That was actually probably the single best direction they could flee right then, since the posse would have incredible difficulty outlasting Hoppy in the desert. Her far greater wingspan would likely allow for endless hours of gliding for very little effort indeed.

"South, into the desert. The ground under us is already starting to look a little scrubby and parched. It'll probably be baked hardpan in half an hour, sand an hour after that; a little romp in the desert will probably be for the best. They'll have a hard time looking for us out in the middle of the desert, especially since they won't be able to go far in without kit like ours." Thole said, before tucking the compass away and lying his head back down against Hoplite's neck.

And without having a blue of their own. She nodded feeling the warmth already gathering under her, familiar and comforting. "I'm going to fly for a while, you rest. I'll wake you when we need to land."

She smiled into the distance as she slowly gained more and more altitude, riding the highest thermals with instinctive ease. The Blue Dragoness soon found out how she would keep from circling back toward Los Pegasus; the 'sun' never moved in the sky, remaining rather stationary high above Canterlot. It gave her a reference point to navigate by. Its intensity was greatest when staring directly at it and she used that to keep heading the right way.

After several hours of gliding she felt a weakening in the thermals, though the light was no less intense; the sands below them were cooler, if only slightly. She waved in the sky, trying to shake her passenger back to consciousness, if that failed she yelled into the wind, "Thole! I need to land. My wings are getting sore."

Thole, who had been dozing lightly in the comfortable heat of the false sun, snapped awake and looked around wildly as Hoplite started to sway and shout. Nothing was attacking, nothing was in sight, there was literally nothing going on. Endless dunes of sand stretched away as far as the eye could see, and the crystal pony told his companion as much as he looked for a landing site and realized that any spot in particular was just as good as any other spot out here. One dune offered just as much advantage as any other, and since they seemed to be flying along the length of the dunes instead of across the crests, there was no need for any special finagling.

"It's just sand everywhere, Hoppy. I think if you come down at a nice shallow angle, you can kind of surf to a stop on the sand, no backwinging required. Just keep going straight and glide down nice and easy, okay?"

Sand. Home. She smiled a bit, though she wasn't aware of it, "Alright, hold on." She angled down and descended slowly to the sandy ground below. Holding her forelegs down as far as they would go she felt the warm sand caress her claws for a moment before she pulled back and dropped down the last meter or so to the ground. Her hind legs dragged in the sand while her forelegs readied to catch her when she lost enough speed to no longer remain airborne. The delicate ballet, had a practiced air about it, so much so that even blind she landed almost perfectly.

The doe dragon trotted to a stop as her hands found the sand and her wings pulled in. She turned in place a few times before laying down in the sand like a pony might in long grass after having been denied it for a long time. She resisted the urge to roll around, she had a passenger and gear she didn't want to hurt and spill respectively. "It's really been a long time since I was in this part of Equestria. Oh! You're going to want to set up the tent on the shadow side of a dune. It's probably still a long while until the sun sets."

She waited for Thole to unbuckle and get off, then rather suddenly, removed the saddle and her bags. She took a few steps then shook like a wet dog for a moment before jumping up and diving down into the sand. Underneath the dune she was no more blind than before though now she couldn't hear or smell. A few moments passed before she half surfaced, just her head, shoulders arms and a bit of her torso visible. The smile on her face was wider than ever.
